Over the past few weeks, we've been working heavily under the hood to bring massive improvements, cleanups and fixes.
Since our alpha release, we've essentially been building the server while the game was already live. Because of the rush to get new features out, the code behind the scenes became complicated to maintain. To fix this and make future updates much faster and easier, we've taken the time to completely clean up and rebuild many of our core server systems.
The best part? Along the way, we've also added new tools and automated tests that catch bugs before they ever reach you.
Long-standing bugs fixed
Thanks to this deep clean, and alongside many other improvements, some of our most annoying long-standing bugs have finally been squashed:
- The infinite freeze bug is finally gone!
- Heat weapons can properly increase heat again after reaching maximum heat.
- Bots now switch targets correctly once they find a better one.
What else was rebuilt?
To give you an idea of how much has changed behind the scenes, here are some of the areas that have recently been completely rebuilt for better stability and performance:
- Core gameplay: battles, battle results, temperature hits, damage calculation and processing, battle player management, battle modes and types, ground height, map loading, guided spectator, replays, hits and shots
- Player progression: season reset, economy, container mechanics
- More: localization, item mounting, chat commands, recruit rewards
Besides the work on the game server itself, we've also created a new dashboard that makes server updates and maintenance easier, faster and more flexible.
There is still a long road ahead, but we're definitely on track. As always, please report any bugs you find via our support to help make the server even better.
Fire at will!
